MBK Kansas City
The BLAQUE Promise Project is excited to announce the launch of MBK Kansas City, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering boys and young men of color in our community.

My Brother's Keeper Alliance (MBKA) is a signature initiative of the Obama Foundation, launched by President Obama in February 2014 in response to the tragic death of Trayvon Martin. The program aims to address the persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color and to ensure that all young people can reach their full potential.

MBKA's work focuses on six key life milestones that research has shown to be especially predictive of later success and where interventions can have the greatest impact:
-
Entering School Ready to Learn
-
Reading at Grade Level by Third Grade
-
Graduating from High School
-
Completing Post-secondary Education or Training
-
Ensuring All Youth Out of School are Employed
-
Keeping All Youth Safe from Violent Crime
MBKA emphasizes the power of communities as the primary unit of change, fostering collective efforts to drive sustainable, place-based progress. By uniting community leaders, members, and public and private agencies with a shared commitment to the success of boys and young men of color, MBKA achieves meaningful and lasting improvements in their lives.
As the designated Backbone Lead for MBK Kansas City, BLAQUE Promise Project is honored to spearhead this transformative work, coordinating efforts and fostering collaboration to build a stronger, more supportive community for our youth. The mission of MBKA aligns seamlessly with the goals of the BLAQUE Promise Project. Both are committed to empowering Black students and ensuring they reach their fullest potential.

Together, MBKA and the BLAQUE Promise Project strive to create a brighter future for boys and young men of color, leveraging the strength and dedication of our communities to drive impactful change.
